Here, they have a place to focus on their health and achieve personal goals in a safe, stable environment instead of trying to manage their physical health concerns while living in a shelter or on the street. No other Indianapolis organization offers respite homes like these, providing 16 patients each night the opportunity to recover and rehabilitate in a stable environment.
Gennesaret opened Indiana’s first respite care program in 2000, housing men experiencing homelessness who were discharged from hospitals. Gennesaret’s two men’s health recovery homes can accommodate twelve men.
In 2016, Gennesaret opened a home dedicated to serving women. The women’s health recovery home can accommodate four women. The women’s health recovery home was renamed Rebecca’s House in honor of Rebecca Seifert, Gennesaret’s founding Executive Director (served 1995-2019).
As of 2023, Gennesaret is working with Pathway Counseling and Consulting, LLC, a mental health firm. Pathway provides every single resident with an individualized mental health treatment plan within 72 hours of admission. Additionally, we added Emberwood Center as a partner. Emberwood Center provides a specially designed program, supporting the behavioral, social, and emotional learning and development of our patients.
