BIOGRAPHY

Erin Smith is currently a Master of Nursing Education student and Teaching Assistant at Indiana University set to graduate in the spring of 2024. Upon graduation, Erin aspires to teach the next class of incoming nurses in Indiana. While at IU, Erin assisted with qualitative research articles, and also had the honor of being the IU School of Nursing Legislative Fellow for the 2021 Indiana General Assembly.

Simultaneously while completing her degree, Erin spends time in multiple roles to serve her community. Working part time as an RN for Dermatology Inc. – Central Indiana’s largest dermatology care provider – Erin provides care for multiple generations and building upon her core skills built in a previous dermatology career at Dawes-Fretzin Dermatology, where she led multiple clinical trials. Erin is also member of the St. Margaret’s Hospital Guild where she leads the communications team in helping raise funds for Eskenazi Health via the annual Decorators’ Show House & Gardens tour. As a member of St. Luke’s United Methodist Church, Erin is on the hiring board for incoming staff for their preschool program.

Throughout her career, Erin has honed her skills in nursing at Community Health, and ultimately moving into specialty care for over 6 years at the Indiana Hemophilia and Thrombosis Center as an infusion nurse and educator. Erin used those skills to take a role at VMS BioMarketing for over 3 years, where she was a national Nurse Advocate and Clinical Educator assisting with pharmaceutical companies including Baxter, Baxalta, Shire, and Takeda.

Erin has spent many weekends working on the Gennesaret Mobile Health unit with Dr. Trippi in service to our community members in need. This work has inspired Erin to take a deeper role as a Board Member at Gennesaret Free Clinics in coming years.

When she isn’t serving her community, Erin enjoys working on home projects, trying new local restaurants, and spending time with her son and husband, Emerson and Ty.
