Rev. Kim Olson has served as the Pastor of First Meridian Heights Presbyterian Church in the Meridian Kessler neighborhood since 2019. Kim came to First Meridian Heights after serving in various other settings in Indiana (Carmel, Brownsburg, Fishers, and Martinsville) and South Carolina (Columbia, Batesburg-Leesville, and Clinton) as Pastor, Associate Pastor, Adjunct Faculty, and Chaplain. Raised in San Diego, Kim earned a Bachelor of Arts from Mount Holyoke College, a Master of Arts in Latin American History from the University of Texas – Austin, and a Master of Divinity from Columbia Theological Seminary in Decatur, GA.
In addition to serving in churches, Kim has held pastoral positions in retirement communities and in a home for abandoned, abused, and neglected children. Kim has served the local Presbyterian Church (USA) presbyteries (districts) where she has lived as moderator of presbytery, member of council, member of the committee on ministry, member and chair of the finance committee, and member of the camps and conferences committee. She has also served as a retreat leader and as a workshop leader and preacher at regional youth conferences.
Kim is passionate about Gennesaret’s foundational belief that healthcare is a human right. She is grateful for the opportunity to serve on the Gennesaret Board and further GFC’s mission of providing free and accessible healthcare to all of our neighbors. Kim’s congregation is committed to supporting organizations in Indianapolis that provide basic human needs like food, housing, healthcare, and hope. They have become enthusiastic supporters of (and volunteers for) the work Gennesaret does in our community.
